New Toys

There are a few new things I have written that I think I will be putting up for inclusion into a 1.6 series release that I thought may be of interest to some.

First up is app_agents. This is a replacement for the evil chan_agent. Front-ended using chan_local this provides all of the same features with none of the issues that plagued the original chan_agent implementation. It was written with callback agents in mind from the beginning and has no issues with them so that is a plus for those who were quite unhappy when the recommended action was to use dynamic queue members.

Second up is res_clialiases. This is a module that allows you to create an aliases file of CLI commands. For example I could create an alias “voicemail reload” that when typed in actually executes “module reload app_voicemail.so”. The alias CLI command works the same as the real one including tab completion and argument passing. If you really wanted to you could even fashion a Cisco style aliases file.

That is all for now folks! Peace.

Astricon you say? Oh snap!

Greetings and salutations world! Contrary to popular belief I have not died. I have just been incredibly busy with a project but wanted to take some time to add a post about Astricon. I will happily be there along with many other Digium people and would love to meet you! ...

Plants

When I first moved into my apartment I never imagined getting plants... but over time this has happened. I knew though that getting regular plants would not be very fun so I set out to go for an unusual plant theme. In my living room I have a pony tail ...

I have written a perl script that updates the LCD display every minute with various information from the Asterisk open source issue tracker at http://bugs.digium.com/ Yes, I'm a Mantis-a-holic. Why I love Telus Mobility

I've been a Telus customer since October of 2005. I liked the general "feel" of the company back then and the service they provided. This feeling still rings true today. I received a phone call yesterday from them. They were calling to basically get me on another contract as my current ...
